25 July 2015 : Original Volkswagen AFS Xenon Headlights Retrofit on Jetta Mark 6

Have been fitting many Chinese/Taiwanese DRL LED headlights on the Jetta Mark 6 . This is my first project involving the original headlights from Volkswagen for the Jetta Mark VI 6 model.

They are shipped from the Germany VW dealer ! The headlights are very simply packed with liquid foam.

Original packaging from Volkwagen......not OEM or Vendor supplied

Because these are original headlights, the fit and finishing is simply 100% ! The amount of effort to fit and adjust the lights fitting is very minimal. Unlike the Chinese replicas which quality is very questionable, these originals simply are the best.  If I had a Jetta 6, they will be these lights or none at all !

Fit is incredibly good !

Only these lights from factory can fit so well  !

Completed ! 100% !

Because they are originals.....they have the Adaptive Forward-lighting System aka Bend Lights or Curve Lights, Auto Leveling according to the load on the vehicle ( no need to adjust the 1 to 3 settings on the normal halogen lights ), Cornering Light, Bi-Xenon, DRL LED, Travel Mode and Auto Check procedure during start ups !

May 2015 : First Jetta 6 with Dynaudio

A bro migrated from the Golf 5 after 5 years of ownership and upgraded to the new Jetta Mark 6.  He had the Dynaudio 10 channel 600 Watts system on his Golf 5 and is determined to have the same system on his new Highline Jetta. Unfortunately, the 10 channel system does not fit the Jetta 6 but the 8 channel 300 watt system would.  We proceeded with the upgrade !

The sound produced was a bliss and the customer is so happy with the tremendous improvement over the Made In Mexico/China speakers !

The Front Door Dynaudio speaker

The large Dyanudio Tweeters produced crisp clear treble notes !
The MIC tweeter is dwarfed by the Dynaudio tweeter

Similarly, the rear speaker is installed

The 300 Watts 8 Channel amplifier is hidden under the passenger seat

A handsome cover is placed over it and helps protect it from kicking feet !

Note : What the customer said :

Fitted the Dynaudio on my Jetta6 from Jimmy in May 2015. Not a newbie to this Dynaudio anyway as I had it installed on my previous Golf5 before. The main reasons and motivation for the Dynaudio solution, at least my own considerations, was that it does away with all unnecessary cutting of additional holes, boards, reinforced with more wooden boards, laying of cables everywhere, crossovers, bridging, poking a hole through the engine area to access the battery for the add-on Amp etc...I think you get the picture if you ever done any audio 'upgrading' at any audio shops before. The Dynaudio is a simple, effective, straight forward solution and fully suitable for VW cars. All the connections for speakers and Amp and its fitting access are already present in the car. To summarize, it's just plug and play, no unnecessary cutting or intrusion to your ride anywhere. And the sound quality is remarkable and a great joy to hear the clarity and bass from eight individual channels to the eight speakers in my Jetta6.
Haven't got the point yet? Then by all means, opt for the unnecessary intrusion, cutting, bridging, crossover etc you can get from any audio shop.
To me, its worth the money and peace of mind that everything works as designed by VW via the Dynaudio option.

12 Sept 2014 : Cruise Control Retrofit

Both Special Edition Jetta locally in Singapore and the standard version in Malaysia does not have the Cruise Control fitted during production in Mexico.

Retrofitting is possible on both models.  Vehicles without Multi Function Control Steering would require a special wire added between ECM and Steering Module.

Both vehicle needs the steering module replaced with a suitable model that supports Cruise Control.

Colour Instrument Cluster on Mark 6 Jetta

Replacing the cluster requires removing the entire middle/right aircon vent housing together with the instrument cluster hood.

Fitting the colour MFD cluster into a basic Jetta would require the steering module replaced.  Adding in the Cruise Control is a nice feature for the base model upgrade !

End of the day, the new Golf R steering works perfectly controlling the display of Navigation, Media, Driver Information, Telephone !  Best of all, owner gets to change the setting via his new steering wheel options that he never had before.....central locking option choices, anti-theft locking/unlocking confirmation via horn, DRL on/off, comfort signal, etc.

Oh...now he know which door is open and which is closed !  LOL !

A happy customer and Jetta 6 Premium owner !

28 June 2014 : Optical Parking System V2 Self Parking on Jetta Mark 6

This is probably the first Jetta Mk 6 with the Optical Parking with Self Parking Version 2 retrofitted in Singapore.

The new sensors are too small in diameter to be used on the two original holes made locally for the reverse sensors.  As such, we had no choice but to leave the two sensors on the bumpers with the wires disconnected ( there is an option to blank out the holes with putty and respray the bumper though.....cost/time is a factor here )

9 March 2014 : Chrome Window Trims

Replacing the original black rubber window trims with the new VW Chrome window trims on this black Jetta Mark 6 is stunningly outstanding !

Removal or installation of the front door window trims requires that the wing mirror and door panel to be removed.  The rear doors do not require this procedure.  Removing the old trims, it is inevitable to damage them unless they are pried out carefully but chances of damage to the paint work or door body is likely.
Since the old trims are to be discarded, they are pulled out directly.

PS : Any theft attempt on the chrome trims would also result in the same bent trims when forcefully removed.  The front trims would be impossible to remove.

Removal of the original rubber trim would inevitable damage it

Wing mirror must also be removed before trim

Wing Mirror sits on the trim

The door trim must be removed first before the wind mirror can be removed.

Today while playing with a 2014 Jetta Mk6....managed to trigger the Staging function on the instrument cluster.

Original Volkswagen Hybrid LED Tail Light Retrofit On Jetta Mark 6

Have successfully retrofitted the VW original hybrid LED Tail Lights on the Jetta Mark 6 .  Sets come with Dual Fog lamps instead of only one on the right side.

As these are original light set up on the VW car, the status of the bulbs are monitored on the Multi Function Display ( MFD ) . Coding of the vehicle's Body Control Module ( Central Electric Module ) is necessary.  No error code are triggered with the retrofitting done.

Early model Jetta Mk6 are fitted with a relatively simple cover on the left hinge.  This can be upgrade with the newer hinge cover from the latest 2013 model.

The mounting differs slightly between the two version. Installing the new trim cover can be done.
